The initial partnership between Sportradar and Big Ten Network was founded in 2021, where the two would collaborate to refurbish and relaunch the B1G+ product.

The new B1G+ streaming platform would offer around 1,500 live streams of Big Ten Olympic sports, as well as on-demand basketball and football games.

Sportradar provided the OTT solutions to support the OTT backend and frontends, UI design and third-party integration.

This end-to-end solution created a comprehensive library on the Big Ten platform that could be personalised to allow viewers to follow their preferred content.

Extending this partnership for a further two years ensures that Sportradar can power the B1G+ OTT platform throughout the 2024-25 college athletics season.

In addition, Sportradar will enhance the user experience of watching Big Ten Network content by integrating sports data visualisations on the screen.

Other features incorporated in the Big Ten Conference coverage include behind-the-scenes footage, highlights, press conferences and additional post-season coverage.

On creating the partnership, Sportradar US CEO Arne Rees said: “Today’s sports audience expects an experience that is highly personalized and tailored to their unique interests.

“Using our technology and data-driven OTT solutions, which have been developed and refined over the last 15 years, the Big Ten Network now has the flexibility it needs to meet and exceed viewer demands.

“We look forward to working closely with the Big Ten Network and helping them deliver an innovative product to their fans now and in the future.”

Last month, Sportradar launched its ad:s technology with Snapchat.
