North Star Network acquires basketball website Lakersbrasil.com

Affiliate purchases Lakersbrasil.com to help the growth of basketball in Brazil.

Brazilian basketball website Lakersbrasil.com has been acquired by the French sports gaming media group North Star Network.

With basketball growing more and more popular in Brazil, North Star Network has taken a Brazilian news and fan website under its wing.

North Star Network runs sports media in 30+ countries and hosts sports and esports fan communities worldwide. The latest addition to its portfolio is Brazil’s basketball site Lakersbrasil.com, which is dedicated to the American basketball team the LA Lakers.

Even though Brazil is frequently acquainted with football and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Basketball is a huge sport in Brazil and is fast on the rise in popularity, ranking second on the list of favourite sports among Brazilian residents. The site, which was launched in 2006, has a focus on news, features and statistics based on the LA Lakers and the NBA.

Julien Josset, North Star Network CEO, said: “Lakersbrasil.com is a perfect fit for our portfolio, with basketball continuing to become more significant in Brazil, and this gives us a chance to connect with basketball fans and provide them with first-class insight into their favourite team.”

Lakersbrasil.com will join other Brazilian-focused brands in the affiliate’s portfolio, including Esportelandia and Premierleaguebrasil.
