Churchill Downs ends Pennsylvania’s Lady Luck Nemacolin contract

Churchill Downs Incorporated has completed the sale of nearly all its assets at Lady Luck Nemacolin to Woodlands Fayette, LLC for a minimal sum.

Further, the operator has decided not to renew the management agreement for Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin (Lady Luck Nemacolin) in Farmington, Pennsylvania.

Nemacolin Resort is managed by Woodlands Fayette, LLC, which will also take over the management of Lady Luck Nemacolin immediately.

The Woodlands Fayette, LLC made job offers to every Lady Luck Nemacolin employee.

Recently, Churchill Downs Incorporated purchased a property in Eastern Daviess County, outside of Owensboro’s city borders.

It has plans to expand Ellis Park Racing & Gaming by building the historical racing machine (HRM) entertainment complex. The finance for Ellis Park race meetings will be supported by this new facility.

The company will provide updated details on the property’s location, development and investment plans, and other aspects in the coming months.

In September 2022, Churchill Down Incorporated (CDI) and Ellis Park Racing and Gaming in Henderson, Kentucky, agreed to buy each other for a sum of $79m in cash.

Ellis Park, located north of the Ohio River, has conducted horse races for 100 years and is credited with starting Kentucky’s summer Thoroughbred racing. There are about 300 HRM in the park’s gaming area.

Meanwhile, Churchill Downs and TwinSpires, the Kentucky Derby’s official betting partner, disclosed betting data for the Day programme in May from all sources.

The research states that bets placed on the Kentucky Derby race, the Kentucky Derby Day festivities and the Kentucky Derby Week races produced the greatest handle ever.
