Flutter Entertainment has appointed John Bryant as its new Chair of the Flutter Board and Chair of the Nomination Committee, effective 1 September.

Bryant will succeed Gary McGann, who announced he would be stepping down on 27 April.

McGann was appointed as the Chairman of Flutter Entertainment in 2015, after stepping down as CEO of Smurfit Kappa Group.

On his appointment, Bryant said: "I would like to thank Gary for his excellent stewardship of the Flutter Board during his tenure as Chair and previously as Non-Executive Director.

“His expertise, professionalism and commitment are greatly appreciated and on behalf of the Board, I wish Gary well in the future."

Alongside his role as Chair Designate, Bryant is also a Board Member at Coca-Cola European Partners, Ball Corporation and Compass Group.

Prior to this, he was a Chairman and CEO and Kellogg Company, as well as serving as a Board Member for Macy’s.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Flutter said: “Flutter is thrilled to announce that John Bryant has today taken over as the new Chair of the Board and Nomination Committee, replacing the esteemed Gary McGann.

“This is an exciting new chapter for Flutter given John’s extensive leadership experience at some of the world's most renowned companies. We look forward to seeing the valuable contributions he will bring to the board.”

The H1 report prior to Bryant’s appointment recorded Flutter’s revenue increasing by 42% to £4.8bn ($6.12bn).
