Sportradar Solutions, a US-facing betting subsidiary of Sportradar, has been granted a temporary sports wagering licence by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC) to operate within the state.

This marks the 47th licence Sportradar holds for US jurisdictions, including states, territories, tribes and Canadian markets.

Kentucky is one of the latest states to legalise sports betting, with the initial announcement coming on 10 July by local regulators.

It’s expected that retail sports betting will launch on 7 September, with online sports betting being delayed by a few weeks until 28 September.

Several operators have partnered with the pre-licensed racetracks ahead of the retail launch, such as bet365 and BetMGM partnering with Sandy’s Racing and Gaming, DraftKings Sportsbook with Cumberland Run and FanDuel with Turfway Park Racing & Gaming.

On the first round of temporary sports wagering licence approvals, Governor Andy Beshear said: “Thank you to the KHRC commissioners for their dedication to getting this done right and getting it done in time for the opening of the NFL season.

Jonathan Rabinowitz, KHRC Chairman, said: “We are excited to open sports wagering on our target date as we continue working through this careful process dedicated to wagering integrity and protecting bettors in the state of Kentucky.”

Online sports betting will launch on 28 September, with nine operators given licenses already.

These include Bet365, BetMGM, Caesars, Circa, DraftKings, Fanatics, FanDuel, Penn Sports Interactive and Kambi, which will serve as a service provider.

Sportradar, which received its license in the second wave of authorisations, will provide sports betting and gaming agencies in the state of Kentucky with its sports data.

Several sportsbooks have opened for early customer access, including Caesars Sportsbook and BetMGM.
