Gaming veteran Peter Ekmark will be appointed as CEO at PlayStar, replacing Per Hellberg.
Hellberg steps down from the role having spent a two-and-a-half-year tenure as PlayStar’s CEO.
Ekmark has served as a Board member for PlayStar since September 2022; its operations in New Jersey have attracted a major investment from Glitnor Group.
In addition to his business knowledge and experience with PlayStar, Ekmark has been a part of the gaming industry since 2007, where he started out in Product & Business Development at Maria Bingo until 2010.
Following his stint at Maria Bingo, Ekmark then went on to work for Kindred Group, where he worked in Strategic Business Development & Project Management from 2008 until 2012. From there, Ekmark became Head of Product Operations from 2012-2015.
Since Kindred, Ekmark has worked a variety of senior and executive roles at Jackpotjoy Group, Harvest Technology and Internet Vikings, before landing his Board member role at PlayStar. Ekmark is also currently on the Board for Internet Vikings and has been since 2022.

“Having already overseen incredible growth in our first year of operation, I’m confident we as a team can use the extensive iGaming and business management experience I’ve accumulated to help PlayStar cement its position in New Jersey and also expand into other regulated states.”
