Radix, a domain registry operator, has confirmed the sale of the domain name ‘betting.online’ for $400,000.
It establishes a new record for domain transactions within the category of generic top-level domains (gTLDs).
Facilitated by escrow.com, the transaction was conducted directly through the registry and according to DNJournal, it now ranks as the joint fifth-highest domain sale across all top-level domains (TLDs) for the year 2023.
As per SimilarWeb statistics, casino.online currently attracts more than 160,000 monthly visitors, with a 34% of this traffic coming directly.
Patrick Gerhard, CEO of Casino.online, commented on its recent acquisition of betting.online. He stated: "The acquisition of betting.online is a significant milestone for us. We envision leveraging this .online domain to fortify our industry presence. Such high-value domains align perfectly with our brand's vision and objectives."
Radix's platinum inventory includes domains valued at over six figures in USD. The registry plans to engage potential clients directly or collaborate with brokerages and online marketplaces for future sales.
The acquisition of both casino.online and betting.online reflects a growing interest in premium domains among gaming businesses. XLMedia, a global digital media company, recently sold three of its European gaming domains and related websites, Casino.se, Casino.gr and Casino.pt, for an upfront cash payment of $4m.
Additionally, Gambling.com Group launched Casinos.com, a domain it acquired in November 2022. The website operates as an affiliate site, similar to Gambling.com, offering users affiliate links to online casino sites, bonus codes and reviews.
