Paddy Power raises prostate cancer donation to £1m after World Darts Championship

Towards the back end of 2023, Paddy Power announced the release of its ‘Big 180’ campaign. The initiative involved a pledge by Paddy Power to donate £1,000 to Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK) for every 180 hit during the championship

The initiative was set up with the intention of decreasing the harm caused by the disease and encouraged men to take 30 seconds to assess their prostate cancer risk. It came off the back of a worrying statistic that indicated 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with the disease at some point in their lives.

The World Darts Championship was an exciting event that saw a new champion emerge alongside a promising future star. The winning darts, thrown by Luke Humphries and Luke Littler in the final, brought the total contribution to £914,000.

While this amount surpassed the previous year's record of £901,000, Paddy Power opted to round up the donation to a clean £1m. The cash donation is set to be transferred to Prostate Cancer UK shortly.

The newly crowned champion and world No.1 Humphries not only ascended to the pinnacle of the darts world but also clinched the inaugural Ballon d’Art trophy.

This prestigious accolade was awarded to Humphries at the Alexandra Palace for achieving the highest number of 180s, an impressive 73 maximums, during the Paddy Power World Darts Championship.

We analysed Paddy Power's debut sponsorship of the darts at Gambling Insider, while BetMGM was also announced as the lead sponsor of Premier League Darts earlier today.
