With a diverse range of trainees aged between 18 and 38, the academy delivered a comprehensive five-week program aimed at honing their skills in hosting popular casino games like blackjack, poker and roulette.

The training process delved into the intricacies of the profession and covered everything from learning the times-tables up to 35 to refining finger dexterity for precise card shuffling and efficient handling of chips.

The successful candidates emerged well-versed in casino terminology, understanding odds and payouts as well as being able to execute the perfect spin of the roulette ball.

Grosvenor Casinos also made sure to incorporate a focus on safeguarding guests and educating team members about responsible gaming in the academy.

Jordan Brown, a 26-year-old trainee from Springfield, commented on his experiences: “Having played blackjack before I thought it would be interesting to see what it would be like on the other side of the table.

"The gaming academy was great fun but also an insightful way to train. I’m proud to have passed the training and can now look forward to my career as a casino dealer.”

Ross Kiernan, Casino Manager at Grosvenor Casino Dundee, also added: “At Grosvenor, we have a strong track record for providing training opportunities for our city’s job seekers to upskill and join our team.

“A career as a casino dealer is a highly skilled profession which offers flexible working hours and the chance to travel the world and host games for high-net-worth players and at major tournaments.

“We are excited to welcome the seven new recruits to join the team in Dundee and wish them all the best for their future careers.”
