The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has given approval to Betby to provide its esports odds feed solution to operators holding an MGA licence. The solution includes pre-match and live odds, content coverage and a statistics hub, which operators can integrate as a separate esports data feed or as part of the Betby Sportsbook.

Other offerings from the solution include risk management tools, back office tools and live broadcasting of esports through Twitch.

The approval comes following an audit from the MGA, with the solution meeting all necessary requirements for regulation. The approval will also be one of the last overseen by current CEO Carl Brincat, with Charles Mizzi set to take on the role on January 26.

Mizzi will be coming to the role with over 25 years of experience in finance, investment and Maltese business following his appointment by the Board of Governors.

The MGA is responsible for the approval of licences in Malta, as well as the investigation and termination of licences where regulation or law has been broken. Examples include Rush Gaming, whose authorisation was suspended in early January and Super7plus, whose authorisation was cancelled last week.

On the approval, Betby COO Eva Berkova said: “This is a major milestone for Betby. During the past years, Betby has invested heavily in its own esports odds feed product... We are already collaborating with some of the leading esports feed suppliers in the industry and the feedback has been astounding.”

Betby Head of Legal Ilze Ramolina added: “We are very proud to have received this approval from the MGA. We highly appreciate the cooperation with the regulator. Compliance with the applicable law is one of the pillars Betby stands on.

“Approval of the esports odds feed is an important addition to our existing verticals. The work does not stop here as Betby has big ambitions to expand the offering of its products in the regulated jurisdictions.”
