National Basketball Association (NBA) has announced its entrance into a multi-year global data and statistics distribution deal with Sportradar and Second Spectrum.
Starting with the 2016/17 season, Sportradar will distribute NBA data and audio-visual feeds to operators outside of the US where gaming is legal.
The NBA will also take advantage of Sportradar’s Integrity Services, which monitor more than 550 gaming operators around the world for signs of suspicious betting activity, integrating these services into its existing integrity protection measures.
From 2017/18, Sportradar will become the “Official Provider of Real-time NBA League Statistics”, distributing data to upwards of 80 countries and territories.
Second Spectrum has been named as the NBA’s “Official Optical Tracking Provider”, tasked with implementing its player-tracking system in all NBA arenas in time for the 2017/18 season.
Carston Koerl, Sportradar CEO, said: “This multi-faceted partnership with the NBA presents a really exciting opportunity for Sportradar and for fans of NBA basketball worldwide.
“We will be developing a full suite of innovative products, tools and services that will bring the full depth of this exhilarating league’s data around the globe.
“I am also truly proud that our Integrity Services provide a tool to support the excellent work of federations and leagues internationally in protecting the integrity of sport.”
Bill Koenig, NBA President of Global Content and Media Distribution, said: “As the interest in – and analysis of – data continues to grow around the world, we look forward to furthering the depth and reach of NBA data and analytics through our partnership with Sportradar and Second Spectrum.”
