The Gambling Commission has announced new members for its Industry Forum, which is updated every 2-3 years.
Comprised of experienced members from Britain’s gambling industry, the Gambling Commission's Industry Forum acts in an advisory capacity when presented with the Commission’s initiatives in the UK market.
Its purpose is to provide a functional perspective from a group of active and experienced members of the gambling industry. Further, the Industry Forum helps oversee the quality of the Commission’s services, alongside the wider environment in which gambling operators work. Specifically, operational areas in which the Forum will aim to provide contributions and ideas include data and technology, general policy, and account management.
The inaugural Chair of the Industry Forum, Nick Rust (OBE), said: “We had more than 40 applicants from across the gambling industry from people wanting to take an active role in the inaugural Industry Forum. It was difficult to leave quite a few of those people out, but I’m delighted with the quality and experience of the appointees, and hope as a group we can offer perspectives from across all parts of the industry.”
Rust is a prominent figure within the equestrian sports & gambling sector, both as a former CEO of the British Horseracing Authority and a Founding Partner and Director of GVS EQ, which offers consulting services for the global equestrian and gaming sector.
Other notable appointees include David Williams, who is the current Director of Public Affairs at The Rank Group – and former Media Relations Director at Ladbrokes. Alongside Williams, both Helen Walton and Mark Pearson are also noteworthy members – with Walton operating as CCO at British gaming studio G.Games – and Pearson currently Head of Media at Betfred.
The remaining members of the Gambling Commission’s Industry Forum are comprised as follows; Tony Boulton, Kirsty Caldwell, Charles Cohen, Ashley Padgett, Nigel Roddis and Leo Walter.
