SkyCity Entertainment Group has announced the appointment of Andrew McPherson as its new Chief Information Officer. The appointment will be effective from 18 March 2024 – subject to obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals.
McPherson brings experience to his new role, having served as the Interim Chief Information Officer at SkyCity since November 2023.
Before joining SkyCity, McPherson also held prominent leadership positions within the New Zealand technology sector. These prior roles include serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Stuff Limited and as the Head of National Design at Spark.
McPherson also served as the CEO of Experieco – a role that saw him harnessing his leadership skills to rebrand and relaunch the business.
In his new role as Chief Information Officer for SkyCity, McPherson will aim to play a pivotal role in driving innovation, optimising operational efficiency and leveraging technology to enhance the overall customer experience.
SkyCity’s senior management saw further fluctuation towards the back end of 2023 when the company announced the exit of CEO Michael Ahearne.
Ahearne had been with the company for six years when he revealed that he would be stepping down the following year, travel to Europe and be with his family.
With regard to his decision, Ahearne commented: “Today I announced that after spending six years with the organisation, I will be stepping down as CEO of SkyCity.
“It has been an honour leading SkyCity over the last six years and I’m proud of the work we have accomplished during this time.
“While there will be plenty of time for goodbyes, I want to say thank you to all my wonderful colleagues, it is a privilege leading such a remarkable team.”
