The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) will begin accepting applications for event wagering licences in July.

The ADG, established by the Arizona State Legislature in 1995, serves as the state regulatory agency for various gaming activities, including tribal gaming, racing, event wagering and unarmed combat sports.

Off the back of this licencing development, the ADG will offer no fewer than one event wagering licence reserved for Arizona Tribes as well as for Arizona Sports Franchises.

The application window for these licences will open on 8 July 2024 and close on 19 July 2024 at 5PM.

Interested applicants must submit their completed applications within this timeframe to be considered. ADG will evaluate all applications based on the criteria established by the state's event wagering rules and statutes.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the materials provided on ADG’s website to understand the application process and requirements fully.

Arizona State opened up the licence application procedure at roughly the same time last year.

This ultimately led to bet365 being granted an event wagering operator licence – acting as the representative for the Ak-Chin Indian Community.

In related news, Fanatics Sportsbook also launched in Arizona earlier this year, a move that marked the 18th state that the sportsbook had gone live in.

Commenting on this achievement, Fanatics Betting & Gaming Chief Business Officer Ari Borod stated: “We are thrilled to partner with the Tonto Apache Tribe and Mazatzal Hotel & Casino to bring the Fanatics Sportsbook to Arizona.

"Arizona is a state with tons of options for sports fans, from baseball, to hockey, to golf to football to racing, making it the ideal destination for the most rewarding online sportsbook.”
