Swedish operator Svenska Spel has undertaken the process of analysing and reporting on its revenue health, with regard to the portion of revenue generated by lower-risk players.

This action is set to culminate in the release of a report, which is scheduled for August, on the percentage of healthy revenues generated for Svenska Spel over the second quarter of 2024.

This is somewhat comparable to Paf, an operator that publicly releases details of different segments within its revenue base.

The news comes in the wake of a report released by Swedish regulator Spelinspektionen in 2023, which revealed that 75% of Swedes undertook gambling activities of some form in the 12 months prior.

Discussing the planned report, Anna Johnson, President and CEO of Svenska Spel, said: “By reporting our share of healthy revenue and our work to counter gambling problems, we show that it is possible to run a gambling company in a sustainable way. It is an important step in the work to increase trust in the gaming industry in general.”

Elaborating on this statement Erik Strand, Svenska Spel Chairman, also said: “To increase transparency in the gambling industry, it is important to report the share of healthy revenue, which is a central part of the work with responsible gambling.”

As it stands, a strict definition or measurement of what constitutes as healthy revenue, as well as how that would be theoretically obtained, remains unspecified.

In April, Svenska Spel released its financial results for Q1 2024, revealing a revenue decrease of 1%, paired with a 49% decline in profit.

In more recent news, the operator partnered with Kambi to release a new sportsbook.
