Flutter Entertainment has provided insights into betting across the UEFA European Championships 2024 (Euro 2024) related to the final and the tournament as a whole.
The figures released by the operator relate to the combined totals across the UK and Ireland with regards to Flutter’s three sportsbooks, namely Paddy Power, Sky Bet and Betfair, with all figures as of 12/7/24.
Looking at the tournament as a whole, the best result for the books came during England’s quarter-final win over Switzerland, where Gareth Southgate’s side equalised with 10 minutes to go of normal time before winning on penalties in a dramatic match.
On the other hand, the worst result for the books came in the group stages when Portugal comfortably won 3-0 against Turkey to make it two wins from two to book their place into the knock-out stage.
The biggest BetBuilder won so far during the Euros came via a customer hitting 16 legs to win c. £17,000 ($21,996.47) in Belgium's 2-0 win over Romania.
Ahead of the final itself on Sunday between Spain and England, Flutter has also looked at how much the pair have been backed to go all the way in the tournament.
For Spain, about £970,000 has been staked across c. 96,000 bets for the three-times European Championship winners to make it number four this weekend, with about 70% of these bets made after the tournament kicked off.
Looking at the Euro 2020 runners-up, about £1.5m has been staked across c. 150,000 bets for the Three Lions to win their first major honour since 1966 this Sunday, with around two-thirds of those bets placed before the tournament began.
Despite England making the final, it was only two weeks ago when data from Entain showed that only 20% of UK bets at the time were backing England to win the tournament.
