The carnival received support from the Social Welfare Bureau of Macau SAR, the University of Macau, and Macau Polytechnic University as well.
The event aimed to promote the public understanding of responsible gambling and raise awareness among local youth about gambling disorders. The carnival featured a variety of games and educational activities that focused on RG and financial planning. Nearly 2,000 residents and tourists participated in the event.
The opening ceremony was attended by several prominent guests, including representatives from the Macau government and educational institutions. Key figures included Xu Dehua from the Youth Office of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government, Ng On Lou from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, and Wu I Mui from the Social Welfare Bureau, among others.
Tina Wong, MGM China's Director of Responsible Gaming, emphasised the importance of RG in making Macau a safer city and promoting healthy tourism.
“Our efforts to promote RG and positive financial value will help prevent local youth from problem gambling,” she said, adding that MGM will continue the effort through tailored programs and partnerships.
Wong Chi Choi, President of the Macao New Chinese Youth Association, noted that since 2007, the association has worked on various initiatives to help local youth understand the risks of gambling addiction. This is the second year they’ve partnered with MGM to spread RG information to residents, tourists, and gaming industry workers, helping them recognise addiction risks and seek help when necessary.
Earlier in July, MGM China also organised a responsible gaming training course with the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM) and the Macau Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre for non-gaming audiences and employees.
