The World Tote Association (WoTA) has announced the election of its 12-member board for 2025-26.
4Racing CEO Fundi Sithebe and 1/ST Technology Group/AmTote President Keith Johnson will co-chair the WoTA, while German Tote General Manager Riko Luiking will take on the role of Treasurer.
Sithebe became the first CEO of South African horseracing operator 4Racing PTY in June 2021 and was previously the COO of Airports Company South Africa (ACSA). Johnson on the other hand has been in the industry since 1989 when he joined AmTote, working his way through the organisation to be named President in 2016, being promoted to President of the broader 1/ST Technology Group this year.
The pair, along with the rest of the Board, will work on a number of key objectives with overall aims such as helping contribute to the growth of pool betting, addressing challenges of illegal wagering, make an increased contribution to horseracing and creating positive relationships with stakeholders.
On top of the board appointments, WoTA has welcomed the Jockey Club of Turkey and Zeturf Group as full members of the association.
Sithebe and Johnson said: “We are delighted to be taking over as Co-Chairs of the World Tote Association. Over the last five years, WoTA has made significant progress in developing the relationship between members and increasing understanding of the role pool betting plays in supporting horseracing around the globe.
“We thank Alex and Hasse for their excellent stewardship, and the entire WoTA Board for their efforts, and we look forward to working with all stakeholders to further our collective ambitions for the good of horseracing and society as a whole.”
In other appointment news, Grainne Hurst has this week officially begun her role as the new CEO of the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC).
