Melco Resorts & Entertainment has hosted a tourism roadshow at its City of Dreams Mediterranean in Cyprus to promote Macau’s status as a “travel, leisure, and business destination.”
According to both Cyprus and Macau news media, the roadshow, titled ‘Glow your way to Macau,’ was organised by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) with the aim of “strengthening connections between tourism and MICE agents from Macau and countries in Europe and the Middle East.”
The event was attended by officials from Cyprus, the Macau Special Administrative Region government (SAR), travel agents and business associations from across Europe, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Macau.
“We are honoured that Macao Government Tourism Office brought an entire delegation to the resort here in Cyprus,” said Lawrence Ho, CEO of Melco Resorts & Entertainment.
Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Macau Government Tourism Office, agreed that it was important for exchanges between Macau and Cyprus to understand each other, and “having the City of Dreams Mediterranean here can be a bridge that can help in that regard.”
Andreas Gregoriou, Head of the Republic of Cyprus’ Presidency, said that Cyprus, with its strategic location, would be “an ideal platform for Macau to explore new markets and expand into Europe and the GCC,” confident that a mutually beneficial relationship could grow through the cross-promotion.
Melco’s last update highlighted its revenue growth of 22% in Q2 2024, as well as its confidence in its growth prospects with a repurchase of about 8.33 million shares for $44.5m from its parent company, Melco International.
