The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and Playtech have announced a multiyear collaboration aimed at fostering a more sustainable and responsible gambling environment.

The partnership brings together UNLV's International Gaming Institute (IGI) with Playtech in a collaboration that aims to use technology to promote safer gambling behaviours.

The collaboration will initially focus on leveraging AI and machine learning to promote more responsible gambling practices. As part of these efforts, Playtech has committed funding to an IGI project exploring the use of AI-trained chatbots to encourage safer gambling behaviours among sports bettors.

Additionally, the company is supporting an internship in IGI's Center for Gaming Innovation's inaugural Gaming Manufacturing Internship Program – helping to develop future leaders in the gaming industry.

Commenting on the partnership, Kasra Ghaharian, PhD, Director of Research at UNLV International Gaming Institute commented: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Playtech in advancing our responsible gambling research.

“Their expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning is crucial in promoting safer gambling behaviours amongst players all around the world.
