Key Points:
- New 10-year deal between Kentucky Lottery and Scientific Games
- Existing agreement part of the Scientific Fames Enhanced Partnership
- Kentucky Lottery has been able to support education funding thanks to this agreement
Scientific Games has extended its agreement with the Kentucky Lottery.
The two companies have been working together since 1989, with Scientific Games serving as the Kentucky Lottery’s primary scratch off game provider, while in 2018 the lottery joined the Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership (SGEP) program.
Being part of the SGEP program has helped Kentucky Lottery Scratch Offs, growing it to a $940m product category, while this has aided the lottery in its efforts to support education in the state. The Kentucky Lottery has, since 1999, funded more than $5bn in scholarships and grants for students and families in the Bluegrass State.
The SGEP program helps with the Kentucky Lottery’s Scratch Offs through portfolio management and optimisation, game design services, advanced logistics, licensed brand services, digital services, and retail sales and marketing support.
Also, Scientific Games has generated more than $1.6bn in commissions to the lottery’s network of 3,500 retailers, while it also provides them with licensed properties and a digital customer relationship management program.
Kentucky Lottery President and CEO Mary Harville said: “The Kentucky Lottery is always looking for new and exciting games to offer our players and retailers, and the Lottery’s continued partnership with Scientific Games will ensure we are doing just that.
“Creative and top-performing Scratch Offs bring the players into retailers, which in turn helps the Kentucky Lottery increase our revenues each year. This allows us to fund the many scholarships for Kentucky’s students and families. We look forward to working with Scientific Games to carry out this mission in the years ahead.”
Scientific Games President of Americas and Global Instant Products John Schulz added: “The Kentucky Lottery has always taken an innovative, collaborative approach to growing its Scratch Off product category, and moving to the SGEP program was a very strategic business decision.
“Our partnership has proven to be highly successful, keeping the product pipeline flowing with exciting and innovative games to Kentucky Lottery retailers and players and protecting funding for scholarships for Kentucky students.”
In other news from the company, last week saw Scientific Games extend its contract with Puerto Rico lottery Lotería Electrónica, a deal which originally began in 2005.
