Slaney’s first involvement in the gaming industry came when he served as EVP of Gaming for NYX Gaming Group from October 2017, which was acquired by Scientific Games in December 2017 and later became Light & Wonder in March 2022.
His first role with Light & Wonder came in January 2018, when he became SVP Gaming of the SG Digital division before taking on the role of CEO iGaming for the company in October 2021.
But now after over seven years, Slaney will be moving on from his role. In a post on LinkedIn, Slaney wrote: “I’ve decided to step down as CEO Light & Wonder - iGaming. A personal decision in its purest form.
“It’s been an incredible journey leading this business over the past 7 years, and I’m immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished together.
“Thank you to Light & Wonder for putting your trust in me as CEO and for the support to invest and grow the iGaming business.

This week has already been a significant one for personnel within the industry, with Flutter Entertainment also announcing the appointment of Kevin Harrington as its new UK & Ireland CEO, succeeding Ian Brown.
