Sports betting and iGaming product solutions provider The Unit has announced the appointment of Andy Clerkson as its new Chairman, following his initial appointment as Strategic Advisor in 2023.
As part of recent company scaling efforts, this appointment will see Clerkson utilise his prior experience within the gaming industry to help scale outsourced design and development teams, as well as advising the strategic direction of the company’s upcoming international expansion.
Having founded technology agency Grand Parade in 2007, which was subsequently sold to William Hill in 2016, Clerkson has held a number of senior roles at companies such as advisory firm Tekkorp Capital. Further, he also brings experience as a former Chairman of SportCaller, and was a key figure in the development of Fox Bet in the US market.
Commenting on his appointment, Clerkson said: “I have been thrilled about The Unit’s potential since Paddy decided to build a world-class betting and gaming design and development house. No one has done this with the scale and capability of my former company Grand Parade – yet! The Unit are now in a position that is very familiar to me, as we scale the teams and skill sets that will allow our clients to grow and expand at pace.
“We anticipate a smorgasbord of product innovation in the near future as new categories, such as prediction markets, social casinos, DFS 2.0 and more, vie for attention. We have seen sports betting and gaming explode in newly regulated markets like LatAm and Africa.”

More recently, The Unit entered into a new collaboration with Sportingtech as part of a move that saw the pair develop mobile applications for the newly regulated sports betting and iGaming markets in Brazil.
Also commenting on Clerkson’s appointment, The Unit Co-Founder, Paddy Casey, said: “I’ve known Andy for more than a decade, going back to my days working for Coral Interactive.
