The Isle of Man Treasury has appointed Gregory Petts as Chairman of the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission (GSC). Petts brings five years of experience as a Commission member to his new leadership role.
As Chairman, Petts will oversee the GSC’s regulatory standards within the gambling sector, aiming to ensure accountability and oversight while balancing industry needs with jurisdictional safety requirements.
Petts is a chartered accountant and auditor with extensive experience in the gambling, finance, and life assurance sectors.
His background in internal audit, governance, risk management and compliance hopes to position him to support the GSC’s evolving regulatory responsibilities, particularly in areas of money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing prevention.
The new Chairman emphasised the importance of maintaining regulation, stating: “It is essential to strike a balance, maintaining responsible growth of the sector and continuing to uphold a strong regulatory framework.
“Maintaining the Isle of Man’s international reputation as a trusted and respected jurisdiction is of the utmost importance.”
The appointment comes as the GSC continues to refine its operational frameworks. Earlier this week, for example, the Commission implemented the Permitted Disclosures Order 2025, which expands its authority to share restricted information with a broader range of public authorities.
This measure is intended to strengthen collaboration across the Isle of Man in an effort to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing (ML/TF/PF).
