Key points:
- Entain has invested thousands of hours in product development and testing for this project
- Since the initial launch in 2020, more than 2,400 retail locations across the UK and Ireland have been updated with the GBS platform
Global sports betting and gaming group Entain has finished its proprietary Group BetStation (GBS) platform rollout across its United Kingdom and Ireland Ladbrokes and Coral retail shops.
The company celebrated this achievement as a “major milestone” in its digital retail transformation and said the rollout was the result of “thousands of hours of development and testing.”
Entain began this endeavor nearly five years ago by launching its first GBS terminal in Feltham. More than 2,400 shops have been upgraded across the UK and Ireland as a result, with 12,000 converted betting terminals.
Entain Head of Self-Service Betting Terminals Fiona Wallace commented: “Five years ago, Entain set out to deliver a best-in-class betting experience for our UK and Ireland retail customers, through our BetStation terminals. Our software, which tech teams have worked tirelessly on over that period, is market leading, offering customers far more than we did in the past.
“This hard work has meant that all BetStation terminals across our retail estate have now been converted to Group BetStation, this is a transformational achievement. It has redefined the in-shop experience, driven engagement and accelerated our journey toward retail digitalisation.”
In the past six months, football bet builder activity has doubled, Entain reported, and Grand Nation wagers placed through GBS have increased by more than half year-on-year.
GBS is a fully in-house developed Entain product and functions as a self-service betting solution for its retail clients. Entain said it plans to continue developing the GBS platform to “further enhance the customer experience” and support market growth.
