Michigan gaming revenue rises 39.5% in August 2025 as iGaming and sports betting surge

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) reported combined iGaming and sports betting revenue of $312.5m for August 2025, marking a 39.5% year-on-year increase.
Adjusted gross receipts (AGR) for operators totalled $281.4m, with iGaming contributing $247.2m (+39.8%) and sports betting $34.2m.
Gross iGaming receipts reached $263.3m for the month, while sports betting revenue rose 67.5% to $49.2m.
The state’s sports betting handle was $338.9m, up 21% and 19.9% higher than July 2025, reflecting increased activity ahead of the autumn football season.
Detroit’s three commercial casinos submitted $13.8m in wagering taxes and service fees, while tribal operators paid $6.2m to governing bodies, up 34.8% year-on-year.

The MGCB also issued cease-and-desist orders in mid-August against 15 unlicensed operators, including brands such as 7 Bit Casino, Grande Vegas Casino and Sun Palace Casino, found to be in violation of Michigan’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act and related statutes.
In July 2025, Michigan reported $284.6m in iGaming and sports betting revenue, up 28.9% year-on-year. Adjusted gross receipts totalled $259.1m, with iGaming generating $235.2m and mobile betting revenue rising 38.7% to $23.9m.
