Spelinspektionen fires out SEK 4.8m sanction to Kanon Gaming
Kanon Gaming failed in its duty of care responsibilities.
Key points:
– Spelinspektionen has fined Kanon Gaming SEK 4.8m
– The fine is based on the length and severity of the failings
The Swedish gaming authority, Spelinspektionen, has fined Kanon Gaming SEK 4.8m ($0.5m) for duty of care failings.
The amount fined follows an appeal by Kanon Gaming. While the court decided that the fine should remain high due to the severity of the responsible gaming failings, coupled with the length of time the failings had taken place.
It was, however, deemed that the company acted swiftly and cooperated with Spelinspektionen, which allowed it to somewhat reduce the fee.
As the regulator for gaming in Sweden, Spelinspektionen has handed out several bans and fines this year. Most recently, it banned Bitx Operations and Ryker from targeting Swedish players, as neither operation held the correct licence to offer their games to players in Sweden.
Good to know: Following the exit of Camilla Rosenburg, in early September, Johan Röhr was appointed as Spelinspektionen’s new General Director
It also comes following this month’s earlier channelisation report, where the regulator found that regulated gaming in Sweden only accounted for 85% of the market, with 15% going towards unregulated betting.
The Swedish Government aims to investigate the matter, though some have called the Government’s method into question.
