McFadden, who joined SJM in 2006, was previously president for business development at the Macau-based casino operator, but moves up to COO after previous incumbent Louis Ng Chi Sing, stepped down earlier this week.
A memo signed by SJM chair and executive director Daisy Ho, said McFadden will mainly be responsible for operations at casinos in Grand Lisboa, Hotel Lisboa, Ponte 16 and Jai Alai.
Irishman McFadden, a former professional rugby union player, has previously held senior roles at Ladbrokes and Sands Macao, where he oversaw operations, after arriving in Macau in 2004.
The news comes as part of a reshuffle in SJM’s boardroom, with assistant CEO Arnaldo Ho appointed president for international business development.
Arnaldo is the son of SJM founder Stanley Ho, who passed away on 26 May, aged 98.
In it’s Q1 2020 results in May, SJM posted a year-on-year total revenue and gross gaming revenue decrease of 62%, with the COVID-19 outbreak leading to the closure of Macau casinos for 15 days in February.
