Melco: DICJ approves continued operation of three Mocha slot parlours

The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has approved the continued operation of three Mocha-branded slot machine parlours operated under the concession of Melco Resorts beyond the end of the satellite casino transition period.

According to the DICJ, Mocha Golden Dragon, Mocha Inner Harbour and Mocha Hotel Sintra will remain open from 1 January 2026. The three venues will be operated by a management company appointed by Melco following the expiry of the current arrangements at the end of 2025.

At the same time, a fourth Mocha venue under Melco’s concession, Mocha Hotel Royal, permanently ceased operations at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday 28 December 2025.

On 29 December the DICJ coordinated the closure with other government departments, suspending all gaming machines and overseeing equipment removal and site clearance.

Personnel from the Labour Affairs Bureau were present on site to assist affected employees and provide access to a support hotline. Officers from the Public Security Police Force and the Judiciary Police were deployed to maintain order during the closure process.

The developments come as Macau’s three-year transition period for satellite casinos concludes at the end of 2025 under the SAR’s amended gaming law. The legislation requires satellite casinos to either close or shift to models fully owned and operated by gaming concessionaires.

Separately, the Macau SAR Government approved last week for SJM Resorts to assume direct management of L’Arc Casino from 2:00 a.m. on 30 December 2025.

Of the eleven satellite casinos operating earlier this year, L’Arc will be the only venue continuing operations. Casino Landmark is scheduled to close on Tuesday 30 December.

The DICJ approved Melco’s application, confirming staff at the three parlours will retain their existing employment.
