Casino revenue grows 1.5% in Nevada

The Nevada casino industry enjoyed a 1.5% rise in revenue during September, with strong performances from Reno and downtown Las Vegas leading the charge.

Casino revenue grew to $916.3m from as the industry benefited from the way the Labor Day fell this year and the Floyd Mayweather fight at the MGM Grand.

On the Vegas strip revenues grew 2% to $504.8m, while the downtown Fremont Street area saw a 9% spike versus September last year, rising to $47.5m.

In Reno revenue rose 9.1% to $52.9 million, leading to an 8% increase for all of Washoe County.

Statewide, baccarat revenue grew 21.6% to $100.7m, while slot revenue dropped 1.8% to $572.4m.

The state collected $58.1m in taxes on September’s winnings, a 12.2% decrease on 2014.
