Scientific Games expands into Romania
Scientific Games has expanded its European market presence, securing a Romanian license for content and game services via subsidiary SG Interactive.
SG Interactive has confirmed that its online content has gone live in Romania for licensed operators including Unibet, 888, Betfair and Netbet.
The license, awarded by the Romanian regulator Oficiul National pentru Jocuri de Noroc (ONJN), is effective as of 1 July.

“With such a strong audience in Europe, we knew a rapid expansion into Romania focused on providing one of the broadest and deepest portfolios of content to operators and players alike would be beneficial for everyone.
“The players there are passionate about our content, and with many of our existing customers already licensed to operate in Romania, we’ll be able to hit the ground running with our proven portfolio.
“We anticipate this being the first of many efficient expansions into newly regulated locations.”
The ONJN introduced its new regulatory framework for online gambling last year, publishing a blacklist in July 2015 of 48 unlicensed sites and stating at the time that operators wishing to re-enter the market must pay an entry/amnesty fee.
