Nevada casinos embrace Sightline Payments’ remote verification

The Nevada Gaming Commission has approved Sightline Payments' petition to change the state’s gaming regulation, meaning visitors of Nevada casinos are now able to create, verify and fund their cashless wagering accounts remotely.

In late 2020, Sightline Payments had submitted a petition for the regulation change, in an effort to provide Nevada casino customers with a cashless experience.

Because of the new regulation, Nevada casino patrons can create a wagering account and verify their identity remotely by uploading a government-issued document. Prior to the change, cashless gaming customers at Nevada casinos had to physically verify their identity with a staff member, which resulted in delays.

This change will not have any impact on current practices for creating sports betting accounts in Nevada, as it only applies to the creation of casino accounts.

The Gaming Control Board unanimously voted to recommend the remote identity verification, after holding two workshops in November and December 2021.

Omer Sattar, Co-CEO of Sightline Payments, commented: “We are grateful to the Nevada Gaming Commission for their unanimous support of this regulatory change allowing remote identity verification for wagering accounts in Nevada. Continuous innovation is critical to ensure Nevada remains at the forefront of gaming, and we could not do that without the support of our regulators.

“I would like to thank all the members of the Nevada Gaming Commission and Nevada Gaming Control Board for their efforts, and I would like to specifically thank Gaming Control Board Member Phil Katsaros, who was a champion of this change.”
