New York mobile sports betting handle narrowly misses out on $2bn in April

New York has released its mobile sports betting financial figures for April 2024, highlighting another positive month for the state.

Handle for mobile sports betting during the month wasn’t far off reaching the $2bn mark, something achieved for three consecutive months between October and December 2023, sitting at $1.96bn.

This handle was the fourth largest the Empire State has achieved since mobile sports betting went live there in January 2022 and was a 27.2% increase year-on-year, while compared with March 2024 it was 6.2% higher.

As a result, gross gaming revenue (GGR) also significantly grew during the month, reaching $183.8m, the third-highest New York has recorded, and a rise of 32.4% when compared to April of last year and represents an increase of 21.2% month-on-month.

On an individual basis, FanDuel led the way yet again among the nine other operators in New York, posting handle of $780.5m and GGR of just over $91m.

For the Flutter-owned brand, its handle was 24.6% up year-on-year, while its GGR was its third-highest monthly total it has achieved.

DraftKings was the next behind, with handle just under $737m and GGR of $63.2m, while in third Caesars posted handle of $158.8m and GGR of $10.4m.

In related news, Flutter shareholders earlier this month voted overwhelmingly in favour of the company moving its primary listing from the London Stock Exchange (LSE) to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
