KSA cracks down on online gambling autoplay in the Netherlands
The Dutch Gambling Authority immediately shut down a recent autoplay incident, as the feature is strictly prohibited in the Netherlands.
Key points:
– The KSA has a no-tolerance policy towards the autoplay feature being used in online gambling in Holland
– Autoplay allows players to keep placing bets automatically, presenting potential compulsive gambling issues
The Dutch Gambling Authority – also known as the Kansspelautoriteit or the KSA – has recently made it clear that the autoplay feature will not be tolerated within its jurisdiction.
Autoplay is a feature that allows players to continue placing bets automatically without having to input anything manually to do so. However, the KSA has strict regulations regarding autoplay due to its promotion of gaming addiction. Because of this, autoplay is completely prohibited in the Netherlands.
The crackdown on the use of autoplay comes following a situation wherein an online roulette table in an unnamed venue was implementing the autoplay feature. The KSA received a signal that autoplay had not been removed from the roulette table, prompting them into action.
Good to know: As well as the letter sent to the individual venue, the KSA also sent letters to all providers in its jurisdiction to make them aware that autoplay is banned
The KSA send a letter to the casino operator demanding that the violation be dealt with and that it not be used again. The roulette game in question will also be inspected before it can be used by players again to ensure autoplay is not present.
This latest development comes closely following a KSA report which revealed 13 reports of potential match-fixing in the Netherlands in 2024 – almost double than that of the year prior.
