PAGCOR funds new dialysis centre in Pampanga with PHP90m contribution

A new dialysis centre has opened in Pampanga with support from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), which has allocated over Php90m ($1.59m) for the procurement of medical equipment, including 40 dialysis machines and a CT scan unit.
The centre was officially opened on 11 April, in collaboration with the provincial government. It is intended to serve thousands of patients across the region, many of whom previously had to travel long distances or incur significant personal expense for dialysis treatment.
Speaking at the opening, PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro Tengco stated that the facility reflects a broader commitment to public health and government support for those facing chronic illnesses. He noted the physical, mental and financial toll dialysis imposes on families, and stressed the importance of providing accessible services within local communities.
Governor Dennis Pineda expressed appreciation for the support and pledged that no fees would be charged to indigent patients seeking treatment at the centre. He stated that those unable to pay would receive care free of charge.
The dialysis centre also includes additional services such as nutritional counselling, social work support and patient education, aiming to address the wider needs of individuals undergoing long-term treatment. Medical personnel were also commended during the event for their continued service to the public.
Vice Governor Lilia Pineda joined the Chairman and Governor at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which marked the official handover of the facility to local health authorities.
