PAGCOR donates PHP 6.8m to Quirino Memorial Medical Center

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has donated PHP 6.8m ($120,000) to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC).
The donation, facilitated by Quezon City 3rd District Representative Franz Pumaren, will allow the QMMC to acquire five new neonatal incubators. The QMMC is a Government-run tertiary hospital.
The donation, which was handed over on Monday 23 June, was led by PAGCOR VP for the Corporate Social Responsibility Group Ramon Stephen Villaflor.
On the donation, Villaflor said: “PAGCOR recognises the vital role that institutions like QMMC play in safeguarding the lives of mothers and newborns. Through this donation, we aim to help ensure access to safer and more efficient medical care, especially among the poor.”
QMMC Head Dr. Evelyn Reside was also present at the handover. She added: “With the increasing number of childbirths we handle daily, having additional and updated neonatal incubators will make a significant difference in ensuring the survival and well-being of our premature and at-risk infants
Good to know: PAGCOR has made several other donations in the past month. It also donated PHP 16.2m worth of medical vehicles to rural areas and PHP 100m to the Inspire sports and research facility

This donation comes during a period of change for the Philippine gaming industry. This month, the Philippine Senate approved the Anti-POGO Act, which would see a ban on Philippine offshore gaming operators while also implementing new safeguards.
