– It marks the third MoU signed by GRAI as it approaches the first phase of licensing in Ireland

The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner, as part of its ongoing preparations for the upcoming launch of Ireland’s regulated gambling market.

The agreement was signed in Dublin by Anne Marie Caulfield, CEO of GRAI and Andrew Lynam, Commissioner for Gibraltar’s gambling regulator.

It sets out a framework for information sharing and mutual support between both authorities with a focus on enhancing the effectiveness of regulatory oversight in jurisdictions where operators often hold licences in multiple regions.

“This Memorandum of Understanding is a significant step in formalising the working relationship between regulators in Ireland and Gibraltar,” Caulfield said.

The GRAI has acknowledged the role of Gibraltar’s regulatory body in supporting the early stages of Ireland’s regulatory rollout, with Caulfield thanking Lynam and his team for their “ongoing support and assistance.”

The agreement is the third of several MoUs the GRAI plans to sign with regulators in other jurisdictions over the coming months as it prepares to launch its first licensing phase.

The authority has described such cooperation as essential to ensuring coordinated supervision in a transnational industry.
