A Malaysian national suspected of running an illegal online gambling operation and laundering billions of baht was arrested on arrival in Bangkok on Tuesday, as reported by Bangkok Post.
Steven Choong Seng Lok, 26, was intercepted by immigration officers at Don Mueang International Airport after arriving from Kuala Lumpur on AirAsia flight AK890. Police said he was acting on a December 2024 arrest warrant issued by the Nonthaburi Provincial Court.
Choong is accused of operating an unauthorised online gambling platform, conspiring to launder money and engaging in money laundering activities linked to the Hydra888 site.
According to Immigration Division 2 commander Pol Maj Gen Choengron Rimphadee, Choong allegedly used his company as a front to channel funds generated by Hydra888. Investigators said the platform processed over THB11.52bn in gambling transactions over a 12-month period.

Officials had been tipped off that Choong would be arriving in Thailand. He was detained as he entered the international arrivals area and later transferred to the Technology Crime Suppression Division 2 for further legal action.
