– IT companies are invited to contribute during public consultations
– The new system is set to be effective for operators and regulators
Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation has announced the start of development for a state online monitoring system aimed at tracking gambling operations and shaping tax policy.
The initiative is intended to ensure greater transparency and compliance across the legal gambling market and reduce activity in the shadow sector.
The new system is supposed to record every bet in real time, log returns and winnings and provide open-access data on market volumes.
Public consultations are scheduled for 21 July and will take place online, with IT companies encouraged to contribute to the system’s design. Registration for the consultation closes on 18 July.
According to the Ministry, the goal is to build a user-friendly, efficient monitoring infrastructure that can meet the needs of both industry and regulators.
Besides that, officials highlighted the importance of stakeholder collaboration to ensure the system’s effectiveness once implemented.
Good to know: Ukraine recently appointed a former prosecutor as head of its new gambling regulatory body, PlayCity
The announcement follows major structural changes in Ukraine’s gambling governance as the Cabinet of Ministers liquidated the previous regulator, which was the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries, and then implemented PlayCity.
The creation of PlayCity’s monitoring system shows the country’s efforts to modernise its regulatory framework.
