Ingo Schiller has been unveiled as the new Co-CEO and CFO of the European League of Football (ELF).
At the end of the 2025 season, he will take over from current Co-Founder and CEO – Zeljko Karajica – as the sole CEO.
Stepping into this role, Schiller brings over three decades worth of experience within the sports and finance sectors, having held a multitude of previous executive roles within the German footballing industry – including as the head of marketing at Borussia Mönchengladbach and board member of the German Football League and German Football Association. Following the incorporation of his own consultancy firm in 2023, Schiller now steps into this new role in which he will help oversee all operations and the ELF.
Speaking on his appointment, Schiller stated: “I’m looking forward to this task because I see enormous potential in the European League of Football – both in terms of athletic development and commercial success. The league has grown rapidly and excites football fans around the world, yet it is still at the beginning of its journey. I’m highly motivated to actively help shape the ELF in this responsible role, in close coordination with the franchises and shareholders.”
Founded in London in 2001, the league is an American Footballing league based in Europe which has over the past two decades sought to expand the sports’ presence outside of the North American region. In May 2023, the ELF entered into partnership with Genius Sports – granting the company exclusive streaming rights for the following season.
Good to know: Earlier this summer, the league also secured a $10m+ funding injection from David Gandler – who recently acquired Leyton Orient FC
Elsewhere, current CEO Zeljko Karajica is set to remain in his role alongside Schiller until the conclusion of the 2025 season – at which time Schiller will assume full operational control of the organisation. Indeed, this is a changeover structure which has been unanimously approved by the ELF board.
Commenting on his departure, Karajica said: “I greatly appreciate having him (Schiller) at my side through the end of this season – and beyond that, the league’s leadership is in the best possible hands.“
