Multigioco’s Italian licence is revoked
Multigioco SRL no longer has a licence to operate in Italy after its deadline to pay back taxes and customers expired.
Key points:
– Multigioco was given an extension of 20 days to fulfil all its payment obligations
– This expired on 20 August automatically revoking its concession for remote gambling
– Company has failed to reimburse customers or pay taxes and reportedly failed to comply with previous edicts
Multigioco SRL has had the concession allowing it to operate as a provider of remote gambling revoked by the Agenzia delle dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM).
On 1 August, the operator was served with a document giving it 20 days by which to get its house financially in order.
That extended deadline has now passed, the document has been made public and Multigioco’s licence has lapsed.
The ADM document details a long list of unpaid taxes, penalty payments and interest payments.
There have also been numerous complaints from players and account holders about unpaid balances.
The document notes that: “Due to repeated breaches of its contractual obligations, (Multigioco) has profoundly undermined the relationship of trust existing with the Administration.”
Repeated non-compliance with tax, concession fees, concession extension costs and reimbursement of the Sport Rescue Fund has led to this extreme action which will now proceed to further criminal proceedings.
Good to know: Elys BMG Group, which used to own Multigioco has been focused on US operations and operates a sportsbook at Washington DC’s The Ugly Mug restaurant and bar

Elys Game Technology, an international provider launched a new site, Newgioco, for Multigioco SRL in 2023, though the next year agreed to sell the brand to an undisclosed buyer.
When the revamped platform went live in Italy, company CEO Angelo Merola, CEO, said: “We are rewriting the rules of the game, and we have unwavering confidence that our users will benefit from this cutting-edge update.”
The server for Newgioco no longer appears to be functioning.
