DGA updates certification programme for online betting, land-based betting and online casino

The certification programme for online betting, land-based betting and online casino has been updated by Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority (DGA).

The DGA expects the updated certification to come into force in 2022, alongside an updated standard report, although no final date has been decided. Several linguistic adjustments have been made and some guidance texts have been modified.

Other significant changes and additions have also been made. The requirement of three years’ experience within a testing organisation has been removed as it prevented certification work according to the certification programme. This comes after the DGA’s decision to consider people involved in actual work as more important, rather than how long a company has been in business, thus, maintaining the requirements regarding an employees’ experience.

The consultation certification programme includes the topics of risk assessment, licence applications and deadlines for reports. Requirements for vulnerability scanning and penetration testing are also covered, as well as testing and expectation standards.

“Looking forward, the description of situations, where the DGA needs to give a prior approval of new and changed games, will only appear from the DGA’s technical requirements for online casino and betting, and not in the certification programme,” the DGA noted. “A new version of the technical requirements will be issued along with the updated certification programme.

“The prior approval ensures that the licence holder can report correct and sufficient game data. New games, which do not fit in the existing data reporting requirements, can give rise to extensive system development on the DGA’s side, which is why information must be given to the DGA in plenty of time before launching the game.”

Before the final version is issued, interested parties have been invited to comment. These must be sent no later than 31 August 2021, submitted using the DGA’s contact form.
