IGT will remain the exclusive supplier of lottery, iLottery, instant ticket and video lottery solutions for the Rhode Island Lottery through 2043.
Despite the length of contract, IGT COO Jay Gendron believes the extension is only natural.
He states: "IGT's history is rooted in Rhode Island as the company is one of its most successful high-tech startups, with the Rhode Island Lottery being our very first customer.
"Over the next 20 years, we are committed to delivering unrivaled gaming experiences that engage players and drive maximum growth for Rhode Island's third-largest revenue stream."
And it seems the Rhode Island Lottery shares this sentiment, on the intrinsic, interdependent bond the two companies hold. Its Director, Mark Furcolo, reflects on the early years of both businesses and their symbiotic growth.
He notes that the Rhode Island Lottery “has benefitted from piloting numerous IGT innovations over the years, including exciting iLottery solutions and sophisticated new ways of ticket printing that are now part of our growing portfolio.
"This extension signifies an impressive milestone, and we look forward to continued success and implementation of the most advanced lottery systems and solutions for many years to come."
And IGT’s advancements will be implemented immediately, with its new Aurora system replacing the draw-based lottery central system currently installed. This new system will replace related lottery terminals and telecommunications equipment currently in use at Rhode Island Lottery sites, and in online spaces.
The new contract agreement between IGT and the Rhode Island Lottery also promises further technological upgrades within 10 years, with IGT putting pen to paper on updated draw-based lottery solutions in 2033.
A joint venture between IGT and Bally’s Corporation is on the cards too – with the pair poised to supply video lottery terminals to the Rhode Island Lottery from January 2023.
