Flutter received 22 million bets at Royal Ascot Event

This year’s Royal Ascot was a notable year for many reasons, the Frankie Factor, the first female jockey to win a Group 1 race and high odds across the board.

Flutter, the company which owns and operates brands including Betfair, Paddy Power and Sky Betting & Gaming, has received over £100m ($127m) from almost 22 million bets across the Royal Ascot week.

It’s suspected that the Frankie Factor played a large part in how punters placed their bets, as the latest figures from Entain gave a detailed insight into just how bets were spread across his races.

With Flutter alone, 3.5 million bets were placed on Frankie Dettori, with many lending their support to him in his final Royal Ascot outing.

That wasn’t the only big event at the races though, with Khadeem landing a 80/1 upset in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee race.

Khadeem, and jockey Jamies Spencer, rode to victory past Detorri and Tom Marquand, in a win that cost Flutter over £2m in payouts.

Hollie Doyle also made history this week, as the first female jockey to win a Group 1 race through the King’s Stand Stakes.

In the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes, Valiant Force won despite her 150/1 odds, matching the biggest return in a British or Irish Group race.

Over the course of Royal Ascot, 17 out of the 25 winners had at least double-figure odds.

This may help to explain why the total donation this year from the Betting and Gambling Council members was £277,000 when compared to the £1.2m last year.

Ian Brown, Chief Executive of Flutter UK&I, said: “We are incredibly proud to support the BGC’s great initiative and to make sure that charity is the real winner from the Britannia Stakes.

“Royal Ascot is such an important fixture in Britain’s sporting calendar and we hope this donation can make a tangible difference for the charities involved."
