Betfred COO Mark Stebbings to depart

Betfred’s Chief Operations Officer (COO), Mark Stebbings, is set to depart the UK betting giant at the end of this week.

After a significant tenure spanning almost three decades, Stebbings expressed his decision to part ways with Betfred in a post on his LinkedIn page. Betfred is yet to release details of any possible replacements for Stebbings when he departs.

“After nearly 30 years, I have decided that it is the right time for me to leave Betfred. I am immensely proud to have been part of an incredible growth story,” Stebbings wrote.

Looking back on his journey at Betfred, Stebbings acknowledged the invaluable mentorship of company founder Fred Done.

“I must give special thanks to Fred Done who has been an unbelievable mentor to me and for the belief and faith he put in me as I made my way through the ranks from a trainee betting shop manager to group COO.

“This week, before I finish, will be emotional as I say goodbye to so many great people who I have worked with for a number of years. I’m sure Betfred will continue to grow and I wish Fred and his team continued success.”

During his tenure, Stebbings significantly contributed to Betfred’s international expansion, notably in South Africa and several US states, including Colorado, Arizona, Ohio, Virginia and Maryland. Looking ahead, Stebbings is eager to take a short break, spending quality time with his family as he contemplates the future.

Stebbings’ departure comes amidst several changes to the management within Betfred USA. Earlier this month, the company appointed Kresimir Spajic as the new Chief Executive of Betfred USA.

Spajic is overseeing the sportsbook’s strategy and operations across 10 US states. Spajic has previously held executive and principal consulting positions at major gambling entities. His professional journey includes key roles at Great Canadian Entertainment, Apollo Global Management, Hard Rock International, Rush Street Interactive, Borgata and Bwin.
