Atlantic City's Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in New Jersey, in partnership with BetMGM Poker, has revealed the return of the Borgata Winter Poker Open.
Scheduled from 1-26 January 2024, the event boasts a line-up of 22 main events, offering a combined guarantee of $10m, accompanied by an additional 20 secondary and satellite events.
Kellie DeCelis, Director of Poker Operations, said: “Borgata is the premier gaming destination on the East Coast and that includes our world-class poker tournaments. After the success of last year’s tournament, ‘The Return,’ we’re excited to offer a Poker Open series and provide so many options for Championship poker at Borgata once again.”
BetMGM Poker, serving as the exclusive online registration and qualification partner, will offer weekly Borgata Winter Poker Open packages starting in December 2023 and January 2024.
These packages include entries to multiple tournament events, a Borgata hotel stay and other travel benefits. Online qualifiers, with entry fees as low as $2, will be available through the BetMGM Poker app starting 3 December 2023.
Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker at BetMGM, discussed his anticipation for broad participation in the event, highlighting the increased accessibility of online qualifiers with a minimum entry fee.
The Borgata Winter Poker Open kicks off with the Kick-Off Event featuring an $800 buy-in and a $2m guarantee. The series includes events such as the Almighty Million Event, Mystery & Mix week and culminates with the Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship — a five-day No Limit Hold’Em event with a $5,300 buy-in and a $3m guarantee.
This poker event follows Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa's recent $55m remodel of The Water Club, now rebranded as the MGM Tower. Furthermore, previous collaborations between Borgata Hotel and BetMGM include the launch of Dual Play Roulette in August 2023, offering a gaming experience that aims to bridge the gap between online and land-based casinos.
