UK-based gambling harms charity GambleAware has brought a new trustee onto its Board. Andy Boucher, a retired senior professional services partner and accountant, will bring his experience in governance to the role.

GambleAware offers advice, publishes reports, funds gambling harm prevention services and more across England and other UK territories. A December report from the charity, for example, found links between increased gambling harms and those in minority groups, citing racial discrimination as one reason for increased gambling harm odds in those communities.

Moreover, in a separate report earlier this month, GambleAware released figures revealing that nine in 10 individuals that underwent treatment from its commissioned support service, The National Gambling Support Network, finished with an improved condition. The 10 operations across England, Scotland and Wales provide confidential treatment, interventions and prevention services among other offerings.

To become a trustee Boucher underwent a ‘rigorous recruitment process.’ On his appointment, GambleAware’s Chair of trustees Baroness Kate Lampard CBE, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Andy to the Board. He has a range of skills and experience that will benefit us and help guide our direction through the upcoming years.

“We look forward to working alongside him and know he has an enormous amount to contribute to help ensure the best outcomes for people experiencing gambling harms.”

Boucher has spent the past decade and a half engaging with social purpose actions, with focuses including social mobility, homelessness prevention and neurodiversity in the workplace.

Other trustees on GambleAware’s Board include those with experience in national and public health services as well as those with British Honours. This includes Baroness Kate Lampard CBE, Professor Siân Griffiths CBE, Dr. Koravangattu Valsraj and Sir Alan Moses among many others.
