Catena Media is kicking off its activity in Vermont, as the state's Department of Liquor and Lottery greenlit three operators – DraftKings, Fanatics and FanDuel – to go live on 11 January, with Catena Media holding affiliation agreements with both providers.
The launch is accompanied by Vermont-themed content across all of Catena Media's national brands. In collaboration with media partners like NJ and TheSportingNews, the platform aims to provide comprehensive coverage to coincide with the state's entry into the online sports betting arena.
Vermont, a relatively small state with an adult population of half a million, marks the final addition to the New England states allowing online sports betting. It stands as the inaugural market to open in North America in 2024, with North Carolina expected to follow suit in the coming months.
Ryan Harper, Catena Media's VP for North America, commented: "Initial interest from both the industry and sports bettors in Vermont is strong. Vermonters have enjoyed online daily fantasy sports products and horse-race wagering so are no strangers to the online market.”
With this expansion, Vermont becomes the latest addition to Catena Media's operational footprint in North America, bringing the total count to over 28 US states and Canadian provinces.
This news comes after Catena Media divested €19.8m in Italian assets towards the end of 2023 with the intention of focusing on regulated markets in the Americas.
