FairPlay acquires deep-learning data company Quarter4

FairPlay Sports Media has acquired deep-learning neural network company Quarter4. The company, with technology focused on sporting outcome predictions and data, was founded in 2019 and will provide a solution for FairPlay’s various brands to integrate new data and tech for operators, players and publishers.

FairPlay’s brands also include Oddschecker, SuperScommesse and WhoScored.com, which will be able to leverage Quarter4’s technology alongside existing data to provide ‘immediate improvements’ to the brand's current offerings.  

Oddschecker currently provides insights into events including the NFL, NBA and NHL, which will be particularly crucial with the upcoming Super Bowl weekend, with over 100 million bets recorded over the weekend by GeoComply last year.  

On the publication side of things, FairPlay partners including Forbes and Dazn will be able to offer content with more detail than usual ‘tip’ pieces, generating readership and maintaining reader retention.  

The acquisition is a first for FairPlay, with FairPlay Sports Media Group CEO Stuart Simms stating: “The acquisition of Quarter4 is a significant milestone for our group, giving our various brands the ability to unleash our already market-leading data and tech platform with the unique insights and smarter behavioural analytic capabilities of Quarter4.” 

Quarter4 CEO and Co-Founder Kelly Brooks added: “Having successfully partnered with Oddschecker as a client, we’re now very excited to begin this deeply integrated working relationship that will pave the future for highly differentiated user experiences. The technical synergies between the FairPlay Group and Quarter4 are clear and we’re ready to deliver more value to our various partners worldwide with the mutual advantages of this deal.”
