Betsson expands presence in the Netherlands through new acquisition
The deal, valued at €27.5m ($29.6m) on a cash and debt-free basis, is funded through Betsson's own liquid assets.
Betsson has announced its acquisition of Holland Gaming Technology – a licenced gaming operator in the Netherlands – as well as its game development subsidiary, Holland Power Gaming BV.
Holland Gaming Technology operates with a gaming licence for casino games in the Netherlands, offering a variety of games through websites like Goldrun Casino.
Holland Power Gaming BV is a Dutch game development company that exclusively supplies casino games for Holland Gaming Technology.
The transaction, effective on 19 February 2024, involves an upfront payment of €16m at closing, with deferred payments of €9m and €2.5m scheduled for six months and twelve months, respectively.
This move aligns with Betsson’s strategic long-term goals, striving for profitable growth through geographic expansion and a higher share of revenue from locally regulated markets.
The acquisition, however, is contingent upon post-closing approval by the Dutch gambling regulator, KSA, to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements.
This news comes after Betsson revealed strong financial results for Q4 2023 and full-year 2023 in its end-of-year report. The report documented increased revenue growth as well as a surge in both EBITDA and EBIT across the year.
The update also comes after a series of recent collaborations for Betsson, including a deal that saw the company snagging a global sponsorship agreement with Atlético Nacional – Colombia’s most successful football club – in a three-year contract.
